Descriptive Research
Objectives:
  1. Briefly state the purpose of descriptive research;
  2. List the major steps involved in designing and conducting a descriptive research study;
  3. Briefly describe the main types of self-report research;
  4. List and describe the steps involved in conducting a questionnaire study; and
  5. Identify and describe four major differences between an interview study and a questionnaire study.

  1. Read Chapter 7 - Survey Research
  2. Respond to the Blackboard Discussion Post and one other classmate's post for the chapter reading before Monday at Noon.
  3. Read this article from the Journal of Agricultural Education that utilizes descriptive survey research as a data collection method.
  4. Read this article from the Journal of Extension that utilizes interviews as a data collection method.
  5. Review the requirements for your Descriptive Research Project.
  6. Complete the following informational sheet regarding your descriptive research project. Please bring a copy of this document to class with you.
  7. Watch this Viewlet in order to learn how to analyze your data in SPSS.
