Welcome to DeVry's Online Writing Support Center. The information provided here is intended to help you understand how the Internet can enrich your writing-- whether you are a writing student or a writer who is an Internet novice.

From "digital dialogue," which provides opportunities to exchange ideas with people who share your interests, to "cyber-searching," which enables you to tap the immense information resources of the Internet, to web authoring, which allows you to be an information provider for an audience of millions, the Internet is a place where you can join an ongoing, steadily growing conversation and practice and perfect your writing in the very real virtual world of cyberspace.

Purdue On-Line Writing Lab Web Server Home Page

At Purdue, students come to the Writing Lab to talk with tutors about planning and writing their papers. On-line, the Writing Lab offers other services as well, including some of our materials on topics such as commas, resumes, formats (such as MLA or APA) for citing sources, non-sexist language, and other information. You can also find useful links to sources of information for your research papers and other writing.

Texas Tech University Writing Center

The On-Line Writing Center (OLWC) combines the consulting services available in the University Writing Center with the convenience of the World Wide Web and email. Writers have access to knowledgeable readers who are qualified to make comments and suggestions of drafts of writing assignments. On-line tutors can help at any stage of the composing process, and while we do not proofread or edit, we will respond to specific concerns. The OLWC also offers online search tools, and references to other online writing centers. (On-line worksheets are also available.)

The Alliance for Computers and Writing

The Alliance for Computers and Writing had its ORIGINS in the concept that more and more people are beginning to use technology in their writing classrooms and therefore require an immediate and continuing source of practical information, principally information shared by more experienced colleagues.

The OPERATING STRUCTURE AND MISSION of the ACW are still evolving, for the demands of a rapidly changing computer and information technology and its effects on education require new and imaginative approaches to how teachers and researchers remain informed and active. The MEETING of the ACW Board of Directors in El Paso last spring describedsignificant changes in the operating structure coming now into effect.

The Alliance seeks to coordinate the ideas and efforts of the following for the following: individual teachers and researchers academic institutions business entities (publishers, software vendors, etc.)

Computers and Writing Teaching Assistants and Adjuncts Association

The CWTA (Computers and Writing Teaching Assistants and Adjuncts Association) is a growing collective of members from many campuses across the United States who are working or have worked in computer labs in the capacity of graduate assistants or adjuncts. Based loosely on the model of the Wyoming Resolution and the efforts of adjunct faculty in English departments, our goal is to construct a clear set of criteria, responsibilities, and job titles that are appropriate for the work we do.

The Rensselaer Writing Center

The ability to write well is often a major qualification for admission to graduate and professional schools and a key factor in career advancement. The goal of the Writing Center is to help you improve your writing by working with experienced instructors on the academic, personal, and professional writing you're already doing: essays, lab reports, research papers, business letters, resumes, cover letters, and so forth.

The University of Michigan OWL

The OWL offers a comprehensive writing resource that takes advantage of the interactive capabilities of the Web. Students are able to consult with academic peer writing tutors online, get current scheduling information about on-site tutoring, search reference materials, and access similar resources around the globe.

The original conception of the OWL was an e-mail based writing exchange between students and academic peer writing tutors. The OWL has expanded to the Web in order to provide both students and tutors with a more effective utility. We hope you find this page easy to use, and we would appreciate any commments or suggestions you may have.

The Dakota State University Online Writing Lab (OWL) provides writing assistance to students and faculty on the DSU campus and to students in remote location. The DSU Writing Lab exists only online. All of our writing assistance is provided through electronic mail.
