Find citations and some full-text JOURNAL ARTICLES:

CINAHL (Cumulated Index to Nursing and Allied Health) and Pre-CINAHL- the best database for nursing articles.  Examples of nursing related journals are: Texas Nursing, Western Journal of Nursing Research, American Journal of Nursing, and Seminars for Nurse Managers.  Pre-CINAHL is intended to provide current awareness of new journal articles, and includes a rotating file of limited bibliographic information (no subject searching), which are available to researchers only for the time when these articles are being assigned additional indexing. This enables users to gain access to article citations that otherwise would not be available. Once the bibliographic records are complete, they are added to the CINAHL database and removed from Pre-CINAHL.

Cochrane Library -  The Cochrane Library is a collection of databases that contain high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making. Cochrane reviews represent the highest level of evidence on which to base clinical treatment decisions. In addition to Cochrane reviews, The Cochrane Library provides other sources of reliable information, from other systematic review abstracts, technology assessments, economic evaluations and individual clinical trials – all the current evidence in one single environment.

Digital Dissertations - The database includes bibliographic citations for materials ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester. Citations for dissertations published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts written by the author. Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. The full text of more than one million of these titles is available in paper and microform formats. Institutional subscribers to ProQuest Digital Dissertations receive on-line access to the complete file of dissertations in digital format starting with titles published from 1997 forward.

Health Reference Center Academic - This database includes journals, magazines, and reference works covering the health field.  Choose "Health Reference Center Academic" on the GaleNet or Infotrac page.

Health Source Academic - provides full text for nearly 280 health periodicals, over 1,100 health pamphlets, and 20 health reference books. Examples of nursing related journals are: Lancet, Nursing Diagnosis, Nursing, Nursing Management, and RN.

Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe - be sure to click on "Medical" to find Medical News, Medical Journals, and abstracts from Medline.

Medline EBSCO and OCLC - provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree numbers, tree hierarchy and explosion capabilities to search abstracts from over 4,600 current biomedical journals. Included are citations from Index Medicus, International Nursing Index, Index to Dental Literature, PREMEDLINE, AIDSLINE, BIOETHICSLINE, and HealthSTAR.

PsycINFO - citations concerning psychology and all related aspects. Examples of nursing related journals are: Educational & Psychological Measurement, Clinical Nursing Research, Public Health Nursing, Hospice Journal, and International Journal of Nursing Studies.

PubMed - from the National Library of Medicine the world's largest database for medical information. Examples of nursing related journals are: Journal of Nursing Education, Nursing Health, American Nurse, Academic Nurse, and AACN CLINICAL ISSUES IN CRITICAL CARE NURSING

Science Direct - a Web database that contains more than 1,000 Elsevier Science journals in life, physical, medical, technical, and social sciences available through the Internet.  Examples of Nursing journals indexed in this database are:  Journal of Nurse-Midwifery, Journal of Orthopaedic Nursing, and Journal of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Stat!Ref - This database provides keyword access to a number of medical textbooks.

Wiley Interscience - features over 1,000 journals, major reference works, online books, Current Protocols laboratory manuals, and databases as well as a suite of professional and management resources.

Academic Search Complete and  Article First are general information databases that will contain articles (some full text) on nursing topics.
