The 13th Annual Juried Rio Brazos Art Exhibition opens at 3 p.m. on October 11, 2009 at Tarleton State University’s Dora Lee Langdon Cultural & Educational Center Concert Hall in Granbury, Texas. The exhibition is supported by the Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council, the Tarleton State Foundation, Inc. and numerous local and regional businesses. The coordinators of this event plan to create an atmosphere that will inspire, educate and entertain as well as attract quality art and discriminating buyers.

This years juror, Elizabeth Yarosz-Ash, is Professor of Art at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She holds a B.A. in Painting from Lycoming College, Williamsport, PA and an MFA from Ohio University in Athens, OH. Ms. Yarosz-Ash has served as juror for high profile shows in Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, California and Texas. As an artist she has presented 29 solo shows and participated in 96 invitational group shows. Her extensive resume’ includes publications, grants, awards, lectures and workshops. She holds the prestigious honor of President Emeritus of Watercolor U.S.A. Honor Society. Ms. Yarosz-Ash states “While reflecting on my personal art history, I’ve come to realize a continuity that has evolved and emerged. This has synchronized my conceptual and visual efforts... Accepted artwork will be selected at the discretion of the juror. Works are grouped according to the type of media received. Approximately over $5,000 in cash and merchandise awards are anticipated. The Dora Lee Langdon Best of Show will receive a $1,000 cash award. Four $500 cash awards will be awarded, along with ten $100 cash awards. Also awarded will be a $200 People’s Choice Award. Each year the accepted artists receive a merchandise award for being selected as an RBAE artist.
