The student will write a
brief review of a paper appearing in the current (within last few months)
scientific literature dealing with some new and exciting aspect of microbial
pathogenesis. Ideas for the new and exciting topics can be found
in newspapers, general interest magazines, internet, and broadcast news.
To pursue the topic, the student must get a copy of the original article
from the scientific journal. There must be an original article published
in the scientific literature. The library will be able to get you a copy
if given a little time. The subject matter or title must be presented to
Konvicka prior so as to avoid subject duplication. A copy of
the original article must be attached to the review. In other words,
what I am asking you to do is to write a type of paper explaining what
was presented in the original paper that a college student with some microbiology
background or one of your classmates could understand. Length is
not an issue, however I do not want it lengthy. The paper is due by November
17, 2000.

of the lab exercise procedure on Monday’s previous to the Wednesday’s lab.
Also available electronically on the web site.
The Lab Notebook is a record
of each lab as to what you did, what you observed and/or the results.
This should be in a very organized fashion. A part of your grade
is based on organization and presentation.
