1. Scholarship - School is the root of the reason we are at Tarleton. All fraternities have a minimum GPA requirement as well as mandatory study hours to be completed every week as well as tutoring each other in classes. Greek men at Tarleton have a higher GPA than the male undergraduate average.
2. Community Service - All fraternities have a philanthropy that they raise money for and also perform work for. These range from Muscular Dystrophy Association to the Stephenville Foster Home. The fraternities also began and maintain the campus clean-up program to keep Tarleton beautiful.
3. Leadership - By joining a fraternity you will have more chances to be a leader in your organization or around campus. The past 5 student body presidents have been Greek. Most organizations on campus have Greeks involved in them. Your can be an officer or committee chair within your fraternity. These positions will build your skills to be used as a manager in what ever industry you decide to go to after college.
4. Social Skills - you will learn proper etiquette for formal dinners as well as how to entertain a party successfully and safely. You will also develop your social skills through mixers with sororities and all other Greek mixers. 5. Networking - This is one of the main attractions to Greek life. You will have an opportunity to network with alumni of the fraternity you choose who are in the work field. Some fraternities have a serch on Monster.com for jobs with their alumni. Alumni are the greatest help with college because they have been in your shoes. |

Greeks are also a large part of the Student Leadership Programs such as Freshman Leadership Seminar, Leadership Certification Program, and the Leadership Development Series. Greeks also play an important role in the Homecoming Activities at Tarleton in the Silver Bugle Hunt, Yell Contest, and Homecoming Parade.
Greeks contribute largely to the campus while only numbering about 8% of the total student population at Tarleton. These small grouips of students are a major factor in the daily and future operations of Tarleton State University. |
