Secondary Teaching Certification

The Department of Human Sciences prepares students for positions as Secondary Vocational Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Teachers.  At the present time a shortage of teachers exists in Texas and in the United States.  Students who complete certification requirements in Texas in FCS are qualified to teach all of the FCS vocational programs at the secondary level.  These programs include:  Child Care, Housing and Interior Production, Textile and Apparel Production, Food Service, Hospitality, Institutional Maintenance, Services for the Elderly, and Career Preparation.
