FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

Board of Directors meeting June 1, 1998.

Those present for the meeting were Patricia McClanahan, Nedra Maddox,

Mary Ann Westbrook, Glenda Stone, and Ann Albrecht.

Those absent from the meeting were Dennis Jones, Ivy Lou Cleveland,

Ken Jones, Pat Cockerell, Mary Ann Lipford, Frank Ewell and Mike Moser.

Since there were more absent than were present, President Ann Albrecht

stated that we did not have enough present to vote on anything. The business

meeting was postponed until June 22, 1998. Ann set the July meeting as

July 20, 1998 in the hopes that it will be easier on the members to meet

on the third Monday.

Ann stated that she was hoping at the June 1 meeting to set up a committee

that would come up with an idea of how to spend the money in the Friends’

budget. Ann hopes to get the committee set up at the June 22 meeting.

The members present on June 1 also discussed the Book Sale and the

possibility of having a two-day Book Sale instead of just one day. The

members discussed whether the two days would be Saturday and Sunday

or Friday and Saturday. The consensus of those present seemed to be

that Friday and Saturday might draw in a better cross population for the

sale. Glenda Stone asked Nedra Maddox and Patricia McClanahan to

help her with the sale.

Ann Albrecht, President, had hoped to have a summer activity in place

by the June 1 meeting. Glenda Stone is still having trouble making

contact with the people she needs to talk with at Stephenville Public

Library. Ann decided to call off a summer activity for Summer 1998.

If the Public Library gets back to Glenda with an idea, then we could

plan it for fall or spring or do it Summer 1999.

The Public Relations Committee already have a date set for the next

Dinner In the Stacks, October 17. They already have a speaker lined up

for the Halloween theme; Alana Martin to speak on mysteries.

Ann said that Dennis Jones will do a Summer Newsletter and they will

focus on information about the committees with a tear off sheet to be

sent back to the Friends with committee interests noted.

The suggestion was made that Dennis Jones and Ann Albrecht could set up

an email distribution list to email members to remind them of the June 22

meeting. Dennis and Ann could use Fax or a phone call for those without

email accounts.

NEXT MEETING –

The next meeting of the Friends of the Library Board will be Monday,

June 22, 1998 at 4:00 p.m.
