Dinner Well Attended

On Saturday, October 17, 1998 the Friends sponsored "Murder in the Stacks" featuring Allana Martin. A crowd of over 70 people had an opportunity to hear about her writing process. They also witnessed and help solve a "murder". According to many of the participants, the evening was entertaining and the company was delightful.

Copies of her books, Death of a Healing Woman and Death of a Saint Maker are available through Hastings Book Stores.

If you have not attended a "Dinner in the Stacks", you are truly missing a great evening of fun. Mark your calendars for the Spring Dinner on Saturday, April 17, 1999. In honor of Tarleton’s Centennial Celebration, the featured speaker will be Dr. C. Richard King, noted historian and humorist. Audience participation and prizes are planned for the evening.

Book Sale Makes its Mark

The Friends in conjunction with the library staff, hosted the annual book sale on Saturday, September 19, 1998. Lucky shoppers selected from a multitude of titles ranging from hard cover textbooks to paperbacks. Those items that were not sold during the one day sale were made available for purchase in the Library’s lobby. A total of $1,214.00 in proceeds from this annual event went to the Friends.

Bake Sale Coming

Again this Spring, the Friends will sponsor its annual Bake Sale on Monday, May 3, 1999. Look for more information concerning the Bake Sale in the Spring Newsletter.
