  • Doctoral Cohort VI Reception

  • A reception introducing the members of Doctoral Cohort VI to members of the Tarleton State University community is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2008, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the 218 of the new Dining Hall.

  • Doctoral Qualifying Examinations

  • Written doctoral qualifying examinations will be held September 11, September 13, and September 15 in the computer lab on the 2nd floor of the Mathematics Building. Oral examinations will be scheduled on an individual student basis in the period from September 29th through October 3rd.

  • Principal and Superintendent TExES Examinations

  • The next administration of the TExES examinations for principal and superintendent certification will be held on November 8, 2008.  Students seeking permission to sit for the examinations should contact Sue Owens, Coordinator for Certification Testing, at 254.968.1908.

  • M.Ed. Comprehensive Examination

  • The comprehensive examination is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2008, in the computer lab on the 2nd floor of the Mathematics Building on the Tarleton State University Campus.  The department deadline for applications for the comprehensive examination is October 1, 2008.

The mission of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies is to serve the College of Education, Tarleton State University, the State of Texas, and the nation through the preparation of highly qualified educational leaders who possess the requisite knowledge, skills, and values needed to guide, influence, and shape complex and diverse educational institutions through leadership, scholarship and service.

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Tarleton State University, I welcome you to the Department’s website.  It is our hope that this website will provide you with useful and needed information about our Department and the graduate programs we offer.

Faculty members in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies are committed to excellence and equity in all our endeavors.  These principles drive the decisions made each day related to student admissions, program curriculum, classroom instruction, student assessment, selection of faculty, and professional support for faculty and staff.

The faculty works to achieve the mission of the Department through the delivery of graduate degree and certification programs in the field of educational leadership and administration.  Programs in the Department are tailored to meet the needs of busy professionals seeking to make a difference in the classroom, at the campus level, at the district level, and in institutions of higher education.
