Welcome To The Tarleton State
University Criminal Justice Program
| The Criminal Justice Program at Tarleton State University is
designed to prepare students to become competent practitioners
in the field of Criminal Justice. Located in the Humanities
Building on campus, the Program is part of the Department of Social
Work, Sociology, and Criminal Justice. A four-year undergraduate
program is offered and culminates in the awarding of the Bachelor
of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Criminal Justice
is dedicated to the study of critical issues involved in maintaining
social order in a dynamic and complex society. The functional
processes of the institution of law enforcement, rehabilitation,
and corrections are studied in the classroom and correlated to
the other studies in the Social Sciences. The preparation
of competent and responsible public servants to assume roles in
Law Enforcement or Correctional Agency Administration is the primary
goal of the Criminal Justice Faculty. Tarleton's Program
seeks to develop the necessary techniques of analysis and logic
for a deeper understanding of the Administration of Justice.
Criminal Justice students choose from one or two curricular patterns:
Law Enforcement and Corrections.
Tarleton State University is an institutional member of the Academy of Criminal
Justice Sciences. Membership is available to qualified
students in several professional organizations and honor societies.
