Luby's opens its first cafeteria in San Antonio in 1947. Cafeterias, Inc. becomes a publicly traded company on January 24, 1973. Its stock symbol is listed on Wall Street for the first time. This initial offering is followed by a second in 1978. Cafeterias, Inc. opens its first location in Oklahoma on August 6, 1980. In 1981, Cafeterias, Inc. is renamed Luby's Cafeterias, Inc. after its founder, Bob Luby. Luby's headquarters moves to its present location, the Luby Building in San Antonio. Luby's is listed on the New York Stock Exchange on February 22, 1982. Bob Luby purchases the first 100 shares. |
