Our grant includes $200 for each participant to be used for housing, gas, and food.  Each participant may apply that amount as they choose.

If you are interested in staying in campus housing during the training, we have rooms available in Texan Village. (See the link to the Campus map for location).

Cost: $20 per night

Please note that this is a change from the total cost of $180 listed before.  The latest info is that these are residence hall apartments and will be shared by 2-3 participants.  They are furnished with kitchens (no utensils) and have refrigerators.  You will need to bring bedding, linens, etc.

Here is the link to info on Texas Village.  These apartments have separate bedrooms for each person.

It will be necessary for participants to pay for their housing upon arrival.   However, we can hold the checks until the end of the 2 weeks.  At that time, all participants will be given their checks for $200  This is the process that keeps all the accounts straight!

Participants are welcome to stay in housing on Sunday nights, or may drive in very early Monday morning.  If you wish to stay on Sunday night, please let me know so I can make arrangements for you.

Rhythm Band is supplying our instruments for the Orff Training.  Below are listed the discounted prices they are providing for purchases of instruments.

Each teacher will have a $500 allowance provided by the Dana Foundation grant.

If you have additional money in your budget and would like to supplement the grant money, you may do so at the discount amount.

To see pictures and specs on these instruments, go to their website at

http://www.rhythmband.com/client/home.php

One more thing. Sonor has agreed that for each individual order of $1000 for SONOR product they will provide one SGL1 Soprano Glockenspiel at No Charge. The order must be for SONOR and the grant money can be applied against the $1000.

Here is the process required by Tarleton and the Dana Grant by which each participant will be provided $500 toward the purchase of instruments.  The procedure will be:

  1. The participants will choose the instruments they want

  2. Rhythm Band will bill the individual school districts

  3. The school districts will pay Rhythm Band

  4. Tarleton will reimburse each school district $500

  5. Any amount over $500 will be the ultimate responsibility of the school

  6. Any amount under $500 will remain in the grant

So, if you only have the $500 to spend, try to get as close to that amount as possible.  If you have some budget money to add, Rhythm Band is offering you some terrific bargains!

TSU Fax # 254/968-9239

Here are the instructions from Rhythm Band regarding the process for purchasing your instruments:

How to Order:

  1. We will accept orders up to $500 without a PO (purchase order) since we have been assured of payment.

  2. For any order over $500 we will NOT require a PO; however, we will require the signature of the principal or school secretary, on school letterhead, authorizing the additional purchase up to whatever amount they choose.  We always accept a principal's written authorization in lieu of a district or school PO.

  3. We will not accept the teachers verbal order for merchandise over $500. Please let your teachers know so they can bring their signed letters with them.

  4. If they can’t provide us with some sort of written authorization then they will be limited to purchases of $500.
