Students

The Department of Biological Sciences offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Biomedical Science and a Master's degree in Biology.

The undergraduate Biology degree track offers support areas in General Biology, Aquatic Freshwater and Marine Biology, Environmental Biology, Molecular Biology, Teacher Certification (Life Science or Science), and Wildlife Biology.

The Biomedical degree track prepares students for entry into professional schools such as medical, dental, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, or veterinary medicine.

The Master's degree is intended to continue, enrich, and enhance education in the biological sciences and to prepare students for Ph.D. Programs and career opportunities not available to those with only a Bachelor's degree.

The Department provides a broad range of courses and other learning opportunities designed to prepare students for a diverse array of careers. Class size in advanced courses is usually small and offers individual attention. In the laboratories, students gain hands-on experience with the biological techniques and instrumentation used by biologists world-wide.

Faculty and students actively engage in a wide range of research areas including biotechnology, ecology, genetics, physiology, and systematics. All faculty involved in research serve as research mentors for motivated undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in participating in the process of scientific discovery.
