Tarleton State University Pre-Physical Therapy

The Pre-Physical Therapy program at Tarleton State University is outlined below. Our program is designed so that the student meets all of the requirements of the General Biology bachelors degree, while simultaneously meeting all of the requirements for admission into the Physical Therapy Master's Degree programs throughout the state of Texas. Early addmission is possible at some of the Texas schools, so students who gain early admittance into a Physical Therapy Master's program transfer hours back to Tarleton for the completion of their Bachelor's Degree.  For more information about the Physical Therapy profession, follow these links to either the Texas Physical Therapy Association or the American Physical Therapy Association.  Another excellent link with information about the Physical Therapy profession is Physical-Therapists.com.

Physical Therapy has become a popular career choice, so competition for entrance into the various programs statewide has increased. Students who choose the Pre-Physical Therapy program at Tarleton must be aware of this, and should strive to maintain a high GPA throughout their undergraduate education. In addition to the GPA requirements for admission to Physical Therapy Master's degree programs, many of the programs also either require or recommend that applicants either volunteer or work in a physical therapy clinic. Most schools now require a minimum score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). The scores listed on the previous page are a combination of GRE scores on the verbal and quantitative portions of the test. Finally, the programs in Galveston and El Paso require that applicants take the Health Occupation Aptitude Exam prior to submitting their application.
