Tri-Beta (ßßß Biological
Honor Society) is a national organization (National Tri-Beta
Constitution) whose purpose is to honor biology students that have
achieved high scholastic standards, to stimulate interest, scholarly
attainment and investigation in the biological sciences, and to promote
the dissemination of information and new interpretations among students
of the life sciences. Our chapter holds meetings and serve $2 lunch
at noon on the first and third Wednesday of every month in room 110
of the Science Building. Meetings are open to all individuals
interested in the Biological Sciences.
Full membership is open
to biology majors who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors, have
completed at least 12 hours of biology coursework, and have a minimum
overall GPA of at least 3.0 and a GPA of at least 3.25 in biology. The
membership fee is a $30 (national membership) one-time fee + $10.00 per
semester for local dues.
Associate membership is open to
students who have a strong interest in the biological sciences, but do
not meet all of the criteria for full membership. The membership fee is
a $20 (national membership) one-time fee + $10.00 per semester for
local dues. Associate members become eligible for full membership once
they meet the requirements listed above.
Graduate membership is open to
graduate students meeting the criteria for full members; membership fee
is same as for full membership.
If you are interested in
becoming a member, please see Dr. Calahan in the Biology office.

Tri-Beta Convention
Convention is an annual event held at the
Oklahoma Biological Field Station in Kingston, Oklahoma on Lake Texoma.
Convention gives students a chance to present research, hear research
from undergraduates, graduate students, and professors with very
diverse interests, and meet fellow Tri-Beta members around Texas! If
you are interested in either presenting a poster or doing an oral
presentation, please see our faculty advisor, Dr. Sanderford (sanderford@tarleton.edu).
Research presentations are strongly encouraged for both undergraduate
and graduate students. Both student research and presentations look very
good on applications!! In addition, our Tri-Beta scrapbook will
also be presented and judged for various awards.
