Who We Are

The Association of Texas Professional Educators is a member-owned, member-governed professional association. ATPE is the leading educators’ association in the state with 100,000 members. What’s more, ATPE is the largest independent association for public school educators in the nation.

More than 6,000 educators across Texas volunteer to serve as ATPE state, regional and local unit leaders. In addition, ATPE employs a full-time staff in its state office, located in Austin. Staff members travel throughout the state to provide support and information to local units and their dedicated volunteer leaders.

Our vision makes us unique. ATPE believes educating Texas schoolchildren takes collaboration from teachers, administrators, para-educators and others involved in education, including retired and future educators. We welcome them all to join ATPE.
