The Agricultural Communications program in Agricultural Services & Development provides the student with both agricultural and communications skills. The program contains 50 semester credit hours of Agriculture course work and 22 semester hours of communication course work. In adddition, the last semester of the program includes professional development training and a 12-week internship with an agricultural communications related business. Internships include placement with agricultural publications, radio stations, livestock organizations, commodity groups, and governmental agencies that provide communications.
Agricultural instruction includes the areas of Animal Science, Horticulture, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Engineering, Plant & Soil Science, and Agricultural Sales. The communication courses cover the areas of Professional Speaking, News Writing, Radio and Television Production, Photography, Broadcast Journalism, Video Production, and Public Relations.
