Dr. Gary Peer joined Tarleton as Provost and Vice President August 20, 2001 and retired from Tarleton in 2007. From 2007 to his return to Tarleton in 2009, Dr. Peer was a Consultant to the President of Minnesota State University at Mankato and served as the Interim Provost at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Dr. Peer was Vice Provost and Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs at Central Michigan University. At Adams State College - Alamosa, Colorado - Dr. Peer served as the Interim President after having served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs for ten years. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and Graduate Dean. At the University of Tulsa, Dr. Peer was a tenured full professor in the faculty of its College of Education. His administration experience includes having served as Department Head, Assistant-to-the-Dean, Assistant Dean, and Acting Dean. He and his wife, Beverly, are from Kansas, and they have three children and eight grandchildren. Together they enjoy the art and culture of the American Southwest and traveling to see their children and grandchildren.
