Mission Statement:
The mission of the department is to provide comprehensive undergraduate and graduate degree programs that meet the academic and professional needs of the student in a diverse and ever changing agriculture industry.
We place emphasis on strong student engagement in the learning process so that each attains personal fulfillment, success, and respect as a leader in their chosen profession, community, and state.
We strive to serve and support the student, recognizing each as an individual with a dream.
Programs offered through the department include baccalaureate degrees in Agricultural Economics, Agronomy and Range Management, and Horticulture and Landscape Management. Degrees are structured so that each student may select from various focus areas including agribusiness management, crop science, range management, soil science, horticulture, horticultural business, gold course management, or integrated pest management. Student may also elect to complete an minor in a specific discipline.
At the graduate level, the department offers a Masters degree program in agriculture. The department also partners with the College of Business to offer a MBA - Agribusiness degree. Students seeking an advanced degree work with a graduate advisor to define a course of study to meet their academic and professional goals. Students may elect to complete the MS degree under a thesis (research) or non-thesis (professional) track.

October 2009 - Dr. Donald G. McGahan was invited to present at an international conference. Dr. McGahan's invited conference talk title was "A Review of Soil Salinity and Sodicity: Forage Soil Management Considerations" at the XVI International Meeting on Meat and Milk Production in Hot Climates Mexicali Baja California Mexico.
November 2009 - International Journals Cover Photograph Features Professors work - Tarleton State University's Assistant Professor of Soil Science Dr. Donald G. McGahan published an article in the November-December issue of the Soil Science Society of America Journal and the article is featured on the cover.
