With the collaboration of the supporting entities, the program will be presented employing the following design:
The Mentorship Team
Including an on-site mentor, a university mentor, and the participant, will
jointly structure experiences during the internship.
Summer Instructional Blocks
Extended, full-day instructional activities during two summers over a four-to
six-week period presented by Tarleton faculty and other experts in the subject
area.
Academic Year Instructional Seminars
Scheduled on a monthly basis throughout the school year to address policy and
implementation issues in school administration and analyze different courses
of action. Seminars will be facilitated by Tarleton faculty, exemplary administrators,
specialists, and/or regional service center trainers.
Administrative Internship
Field-based core of the program which provides structured, on-the-job learning
opportunities. A program participant can serve as an intern, assistant principal, principal or in another administrative position.
Field-Based School Improvement Project
Designed and implemented by the participant during the program. The project
will focus on assessing learner needs and developing strategies to enhance student
success in the supporting school. The campus mentor and the graduate committee
will jointly approve project selection.
Applied Technology
Will enhance the NCELP program in promoting communications and delivering instruction.
During the internship, students will be required to communicate with the program
director via Internet for specific program activities and information.
