Grades 6-12 and All Level Certification

Coursework within most degrees prepares applicants with the necessary hours and content knowledge to be able to pursue certification in grades 6-12 and grades EC-12 (All Level) and to pass the appropriate TExES content exam within their major. To be considered academically prepared, your certification area must meet the number of semester hours (sh) required for the content area, have at least a 2.75 grade point average - both in your teaching field and overall - and no grade lower than a "C" can be counted for credit in your teaching field. Semester hours (sh) are the course hours earned in your prior academic career.
Most certification areas at these levels require the common core requirement of 24 hours in the subject matter you want to teach with 12 of those hours being upper level: e.g., junior, senior, or graduate level. 6-12 and All Level Certification areas and the coursework required for entering the program are listed below . If you don’t see your desired certification area here, be sure to check the other Academic Qualification links.
