Welcome to TMATE!
About Us
You could make the difference in a child's life!
The Tarleton Model for Accelerated Teacher Education (TMATE) program helps highly motivated people who already have a bachelor's degree become certified public school teachers in Texas.
With small classes and personal attention, TMATE offers thorough preparation for classroom teaching. The pre-internship graduate level courses introduce you to the art and science of teaching. During your paid internship year, a mentor teacher and TMATE staff provide advice and encouragement while you apply what you are learning in the fall and spring classes.
Alternative teacher certification programs like TMATE are regulated by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC). You can't just "take a test and become a certified teacher." You must complete an approved program to earn your initial certification. TMATE's reputation as an exemplary teacher certification program and the classroom success of its more than 2,000 certified teachers make TMATE participants very attractive candidates for school districts seeking to hire beginning teachers.
TMATE is committed to improving the education of children and youth in the State of Texas - one classroom at a time. So...make the difference... Let TMATE help you become more than just a teacher, become an education professional!
