Reporting a Security Issue

If you discover a security issue (i.e., illegal file sharing, username/password sharing, viruses or other malicious software on University property, theft of University property), please contact the Information Security Officer (ISO) with the following information:

  • type of electronic information service that was involved
  • specific information as to the location of the information
  • type of violation that is suspected

Types of Violations

There are many types of security violations. These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Drug Trafficking
  • Fraud
  • Hacking
  • Harassment
  • Identity Theft (personal information such as username/password, social security, and credit cards)
  • Obscene or Offensive Content
  • Phishing
  • Piracy (illegal sharing/viewing of content such as music or videos)
  • Spam
  • Spyware (software recording keystrokes, or tracking other information on your usage)
  • Terrorism
  • Theft
  • Viruses, Worms, & Trojans ("malware" or malicious software)
