New Equipment Request
Please seek approval from your department head and consider all of the following:
Power- All computer equipment should be plugged into a surge protector. Chaining surge protectors together is a fire code. TSU maintenance will add outlets for a fee with a work order.
Blue Line- A blue line connects a computer to the network and enables users to access the internet, check email and print to shared printers. It costs $150 to have a blue line installed or moved.
Printer- Most printers are shared on the network. If you need a personal printer (one attached to your computer), we will evaluate our availability and your computer's specific printer cable requirements and do our best to meet your request..
Software- Microsoft Office should be installed on every computer. Installing software on multiple computers if you have only one license is not permitted. You may contact Information Resources (ext. 9885) to find out which software applications are already licensed by the University. If you're adding a new computer, please purchase additional software licenses for it. If you are replacing a computer and the old unit is going to surplus, then it is okay to use the previous license to reinstall the software.
Forgot your password?
For security purposes, all the servers on campus do not have the same account information. You will have the same account information on Email, dial-up Email access from home and the NT file server called "Blake". This password will expire periodically and you will be notified via email when it's time to change. You may call Information Resources at x9885 for assistance. Students are required to take their student ID to HUM 216 or the library to have their password reset to K plus the first seven digits of their social. As Faculty or staff, you may be able to have get yours reset with a telephone request.
Daphne Hunt administers the server that holds your web page. You may contact her at x9713 if you have trouble accessing or publishing your web page or you might try this link first to find the answer to your question.
Classroom Computer Stations
PCs are now located in each classroom. You may want to stop by the lab and check-out the remote bag for your room. There's a remote to turn the LCD projector on as well as a remote which enables you to control the mouse. Each computer is connected to a blue line so you can access the internet and files on Blake and Store01. Please remember to log off before leaving. If you have questions or need help transferring your files to one of these computers, email or call the computer lab specialist at 968-9943.
Online Course Information and Assistance
If you need assistance with online courses, you may visit the web page for the Center for Instructional Technology and Distributed Learning or contact Dr. George Mollick at 968-9050.
Problems with SIS system
You may contact the Registrar at x9122 with requests for new accounts. For existing account support, contact Information Resources at x9885. The Registrar's Office offers periodic training on different screens in the SIS system. Networked printers are assigned a two character code within the SIS system, or you may use 00 (zero zero) as the printer code to send the print job to your default printer.
