Criteria: Recipients must major in graduate programs in the College of Science and Technology or the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. New graduate students must have a 3.2 undergraduate GPA for consideration. Returning graduate students must have a 3.5 graduate GPA. All recipients must enroll in at least six hours of graduate work per semester.

Criteria: Recipients shall be incoming freshman majoring in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts or the College of Science and Technology, ranked in the top 25% percent of their high school class, minimum SAT total (math and verbal) 1350 or higher or ACT composite 30 or higher. Recipients must maintain a 3.2 cumulative and current semester GPA and complete 15 hours per semester for continued funding.

Criteria: Recipients shall be students majoring in a department in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts or the College of Science and Technology. Incoming students must be ranked in the top 25% of their high school class, have a B+ average on all high school work, and an ACT composite of 25 or higher or SAT total (math and verbal) 1100 or higher. Returning students must enroll and complete 15 semester hours and maintain a 3.2 cumulative and semester GPA.

Donald & Dahlee Morton Endowed Piano Scholarship

Criteria: The recipient shall be a declared, full-time piano major and must have completed a successful piano audition, remain enrolled in applied piano lessons, be enrolled and making satisfactory progress in piano ensemble, have and maintain a 3.0 GPA in all music courses taken and have and maintain a 2.8 overall GPA. The recipient must be active in appropriate department performance opportunities and be expected to maintain an exemplary attendance and participation record in music classes and music major requirements.

Dr. Marie Meisel Cedars Scholarship

Criteria: Recipient is selected based on art performance, academic merit and leadership skills. Established in 2001 by the friends and family of Dr. Cedars. Dr. Cedars was a member of the faculty at Tarleton for many years as a French instructor and was an accomplished artist. Dr. Cedars' group of twelve paintings based on the book "6 Day of Destruction" by Elie Wiesel, an Auschwitz survivor, and Rabbi Albert H. Friedlander, who fled Germany in 1939, has been displayed in New York galleries and many other major cities across the United States. The collection features images from Biblical account of creation and Holocaust individual tragedies.

John Caraway Memorial Endowed Music Scholarship
Amount: Minimum of $1,250 per semester

Criteria: Recipients must be applicants for a Baccalaureate Degree in Music (Voice or Instrument) at Tarleton and will be selected without regard to age, sex, race or nationality. Recipient must have maintained at least a “B” average in high school to qualify for the award. This scholarship was established in the will of Mr. John Caraway of Stephenville, Texas in 2000 to assist worthy students. Mr. Caraway retired from Gulf Oil as an Accounting Manager of the Midland offices in 1983. Caraway attended Tarleton and earned his Bachelor in Management from Texas Tech University. A native of Reagan County, he was drafted into the military during the Korean conflict and sent to Fort Sam Houston to Medical Field Service School. He was discharged in 1952 and went to work for Gulf at the Fort Worth Division Office in 1953. Mr. Caraway passed away in 2000.

Paul & Opal Cunyus Scholarship

Criteria: Freshman recipients must demonstrate financial need, must complete admission application and obtain acceptance to Tarleton, must pass all parts of the TASP (now THEA) test, must be a Fine Arts, Education, and/or Horticulture major. Upper division recipients must demonstrate academic performance (minimum GPA of 2.75), must show financial need, show involvement in leadership training and extra curricular activities, and must be a Fine Arts, Education, and/or Horticulture major. Established in December 1995 by Mr. Paul Cunyus and family. Mr. Cunyus came to Tarleton in the early 1920s from his home in East Texas. He completed two years at John Tarleton Agriculture College majoring in Agriculture. Upon graduation he transferred to Texas A&M, where he received his bachelor and master degrees. After World War II he returned to Tarleton as the associate dean and served in that capacity for 25 years. He retired in the early 1970s. Mr. Cunyus passed away in 1996. His wife, Opal, preceded him in death.
