Criteria:	The recipient must be majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies and planning to teach at the elementary level, Texas resident, a recent graduate of a Texas High School, and desirable to have at least one parent that is or has been a classroom teacher.

CM “Dutch” Flory Memorial Scholarship in Physical Education

Criteria:	Recipient must be an undergraduate exercise and sports studies major with minimum of 24 hours completed at Tarleton, overall GPA of 3.0, active in P.E. activities and/or professional P.E. organizations, degree programming leading toward teacher certification, evidence of outstanding citizenship, leadership, and moral character.

Dr. Sara Tyler Memorial Scholarship

Criteria:	The recipient shall be a Graduate Student of Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading, fully admitted to the College of Graduate Studies with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The recipient must also be a Texas Certified Teacher.

Criteria:	The recipient of the Dr. W.H. Stanley, Sr. Scholarship must have successfully completed at least 30 hours of undergraduate work, must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, must have declared a major in Education, History, Political Science, Music or Sociology, must have demonstrated internal motivation, and be involved in political activities or community service.

Criteria:	Recipient(s) must have a declared major in the College of Education, College of Liberal and Fine Arts, or College of Science and Technology. Incoming Freshman: top 25% of class, B+ average, ACT 23 composite or SAT 1000 total (math and verbal). Returning Students: full-time student, 3.0 current GPA and 3.0 cumulative GPA

John & Elizabeth Cheatham Endowed Scholarship

Criteria:	Recipient shall enroll in at least 9 semester hours for an undergraduate or 6 semester hours for a graduate student during the semester the scholarship is awarded, declared major and approved degree plan in the field of teacher education preparation, school counselor certification, educational administration, or an academic program within business administration or computer information systems, and financial need as final factor.

JW and AE Bright Endowed Scholarship

Criteria:	Recipient must be students who, with their parent(s) are residents of Runnels County. Recipient(s) must show financial need and major in Agriculture, Education or Music. If no eligible applicant from Runnels County then students from the following counties can be considered: Taylor, Coleman, Concho, Tom Green, Coke, or Nolan County. Recipient must graduate in the upper quartile of their high school class and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or above for all college work attempted. The J.W. & A.E. Bright Endowed Scholarship was established by Frances Allen in 1971 in memory of her parents.

The recipient shall be a member or retiree of the U.S. Armed Forces, a dependent of a member or retiree of the U.S. Armed Forces, or employed as a civilian by the Department of Defense.

Paul & Opal Cunyus Scholarship
Amount:	Typical Award $1000 per academic year

Criteria:	Freshman recipients must demonstrate financial need, must complete admission application and obtain acceptance to Tarleton, must pass all parts of the TASP (now THEA) test, must be a Fine Arts, Education, and/or Horticulture major. Upper division recipients must demonstrate academic performance (minimum GPA of 2.75), must show financial need, show involvement in leadership training and extra curricular activities, and must be a Fine Arts, Education, and/or Horticulture major. Established in December 1995 by Mr. Paul Cunyus and family. Mr. Cunyus came to Tarleton in the early 1920s from his home in East Texas. He completed two years at John Tarleton Agriculture College majoring in Agriculture. Upon graduation he transferred to Texas A&M, where he received his bachelor and master degrees. After World War II he returned to Tarleton as the associate dean and served in that capacity for 25 years. He retired in the early 1970s. Mr. Cunyus passed away in 1996. His wife, Opal, preceded him in death.

Robert & Patricia Fain Teaching Scholarship

Criteria:	Part I recipient must be in the top 25% of his/her graduating class, must have at least 1000 on the SAT or 23 on the ACT, must complete an application form which includes an essay on why they want to be a teacher, and must meet all of Tarleton’s admission requirements. Part II recipient must meet teacher certification requirements, must have completed one semester after being accepted into the certification program and must be majoring in mathematics or chemistry.
Selection Process:	Committee from the Departments of Chemistry/Geosciences, Mathematics and Physics, and Curriculum and Instruction.

Sally Boyd Teaching Endowment

Criteria:	Recipient must be a graduate student pursuing a degree in either education, a professional certificate, or a professional development experience, must show: 1. leadership potential. 2. quality and work experience (teaching and or administration). 3. express a sense of humor. 4. show financial need. Established in August 1989 by Drs. James and Veleda Boyd. The scholarship honors Dr. Boyd's mother, Sally Boyd, a strong believer in the value of education in the lives of young people. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage instructional leaders in the public schools of Texas and recognize their career commitment.

Sue Baker Memorial Scholarship

Criteria:	Recipient must be a female student majoring in Physical Education, active in women’s athletics (preferably basketball), or active in P.E. organizations, intramurals, committees, etc., completion of 15 semester hours, GPA of 3.0, and show financial need.

Tarleton Greater Texas Foundation Freshman Immersion in Teaching Endowment
Amount:	$500
Deadline:	February 15th (fall) or December 1st (spring) - priority deadlines
Criteria:	The recipient shall be a full-time Tarleton student, who: 1. plans to seek certification in Math or Science; 2. has demonstrated a need for financial assistance in order to be able to pursue his or her collegiate studies; and 3. has a 3.0 overall grade point average.

Tarleton Professional Educators Scholarship

Criteria:	Recipient must be seeking initial certification through traditional coursework, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and express interest in teaching. Recipient shall be a full-time student admitted to teacher education program. Preference will be given to an active member of the Tarleton Professional Educators Association.

Walter and Sara George Endowed

Criteria:	Recipient shall be a graduating senior of a Coleman County High School with demonstrated financial need, majoring in Education with a goal to pursue a career in teaching, involved in extracurricular activities and satisfactory academic grades. If there is not a graduating senior enrolling at Tarleton State University who meets the criteria, a Coleman County student who meets the criteria who is currently enrolled may be awarded the scholarship.
