Criteria:	This scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies, planning to teach at the elementary level. The recipient should also be a Texas resident and a recent graduate of a Texas High School. It is desirable to have at least one parent that is or has been a classroom teacher.

Charles H. Hale Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to an outstanding student(s) majoring in education or seeking certification in secondary education.

CM “Dutch” Flory Memorial Scholarship in Physical Education

Amount:	$500 award at beginning of each long semester
Deadline:	February 15th (fall/academic year) or December 1st (spring) - priority deadlines
Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to an undergraduate exercise and sports studies major that is active in P.E. activities and/or professional P.E. organizations with a minimum of 24 hours completed at Tarleton, an overall GPA of 3.0 with degree programming leading toward teacher certification and shows evidence of outstanding citizenship, leadership, and moral character.

Crystal Apple Society Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to doctoral, graduate, or undergraduate students in the College of Education that are in good standing in the academic program and are recommended by the respective Department Head. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Dr. James Boyd Memorial Endowment Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to graduate student pursuing a degree in either education, a professional certificate, or a professional development experience. The recipient must show leadership potential, quality and work experience through teaching and or school administration, express a sense of humor, and show financial need.

Dr. Sara Tyler Memorial Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship is given to a graduate student majoring in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in reading that is fully admitted to the College of Graduate Studies with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The recipient must also be a Texas Certified Teacher.

Dr. W.H. Stanley, Sr. Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to a student that has successfully completed at least 30 hours of undergraduate work, has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, is a declared a major in education, history, political science, music or sociology, demonstrates internal motivation, and is involved in political activities or community service.

Erath County Retired Teachers Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to a future teacher from Erath County with a “ B” average or above GPA.

Harris Methodist Hospital Endowed Scholarship in Sports Medicine

Jay R. McDanel Education Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to a deserving full-time junior, senior, or graduate student, showing interest in teaching science or math. The recipient must maintain 3.0 GPA, demonstrate high character, financial need, and commitment to the teaching profession.

Joe R. & Teresa L. Long Scholarship

Amount:	Typical Award $2,000 per academic year

Criteria:	Recipient(s) must have a declared major in the College of Education, College of Liberal and Fine Arts, or College of Science and Technology. Incoming Freshmen requirements: top 25% of class, B+ average on high school work, and an ACT 23 composite or SAT 1000 total (math and verbal). Returning Student requirements: full-time student, 3.0 current semester GPA and 3.0 cumulative GPA.

John D. & Alene Moorman Palmer Endowed Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to deserving students majoring in elementary or secondary education and/or educational administration who have demonstrated their desire to become professional educators.

JW and AE Bright Endowed Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to students who, with their parent(s) are residents of Runnels County. Recipients must show financial need and major in agriculture, education or music. Recipients must also graduate in the upper quartile of their high school class and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or above for all college work attempted. If no eligible applicant from Runnels County then students from the following counties can be considered: Taylor, Coleman, Concho, Tom Green, Coke, or Nolan County. The J.W. & A.E. Bright Endowed Scholarship was established by Frances Allen in 1971 in memory of her parents.

Louise & Tommy Thompson Endowed PHP Scholarship

Paul & Opal Cunyus Scholarship

Amount:	Typical Award $1000 per academic year
Deadline:	February 15th (fall/academic year) or December 1st (spring) - priority deadlines
Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to students majoring in fine arts, education and/or horticulture. Freshman recipients must demonstrate financial need, be accepted to Tarleton, and have passed all parts of the TASP (now THEA) test. Upper division recipients must have a minimum GPA of 2.75, show financial need, demonstrate participation in leadership training and extra curricular activities. Established in December 1995 by Mr. Paul Cunyus and family. Mr. Cunyus came to Tarleton in the early 1920s from his home in East Texas. He completed two years at John Tarleton Agriculture College majoring in agriculture. Upon graduation he transferred to Texas A&M, where he received his bachelor and master degrees. After World War II he returned to Tarleton as the associate dean and served in that capacity for 25 years. He retired in the early 1970s. Mr. Cunyus passed away in 1996. His wife, Opal, preceded him in death.

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to students with the potential to be certified in math and/or chemistry with a 3.0 or higher GPA. This scholarship is not need based.

Sue Baker Memorial Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to a female student majoring in physical education (kinesiology), active in women’s athletics (preferably basketball), or active in P.E. organizations, intramurals, committees, etc. The recipient must have completed 15 semester hours, maintain full-time student status, show financial need, and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Tarleton Greater Texas Foundation Freshman Immersion in Mathematics or ScienceTeaching Endowment

Amount:	$500

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to a full-time Tarleton student who plans to seek certification in math or science, demonstrates financial need and has a 3.0 overall GPA.

Tarleton Professional Educators Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to a full-time student admitted to the teacher education program. The recipient must be seeking initial certification through traditional coursework, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and express interest in teaching. Preference will be given to an active member of the Tarleton Professional Educators Association.

Tarleton State University Middle School Mathematics Scholarship

Amount:	maximum of $1,000 per year

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to a deserving interdisciplinary studies major with middle school math certification. The recipient must have a 3.0 GPA and be a member of TEAM (Tarleton Educators for the Advancement of Mathematics).

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to a graduating senior of a Coleman County High School who is majoring in education with a goal to pursue a career in teaching. The recipient must show financial need, be involved in extracurricular activities, and have satisfactory academic grades. If there is not a graduating senior enrolling at Tarleton State University who meets the criteria, a Coleman County student who meets the criteria who is currently enrolled may be awarded the scholarship.

Willie L. & Eve K. Tate Endowment Fund Scholarship

Criteria:	This scholarship will be given to students majoring in agriculture with teacher certification, fine arts with certification or education. Recipients must show financial need, maintain full-time student status or 6 semester hours for non-traditional students, and maintain a 2.75 GPA. High school graduates must meet requirements for “regular” admissions and demonstrate scholastic ability.
