Texas Social Media Research Institute to launch first Twitter chat

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—The Texas Social Media Institute (TSMRI) will launch its first Twitter chat Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 8 p.m., focusing on the topic of privacy and social media.

Participants can follow the chat to find out what TSMRI social media experts and the Twitter community think about the prominent topic and if social media and privacy can coexist. In honor of Data Privacy Month, TSMRI’s chat will explore individual views and experiences about social media and privacy. Data Privacy Month is Jan. 28-Feb. 28.

Every eight minutes during the hour, TSMRI will post a new chat question about the discussion topic and prizes will be awarded periodically. Anyone can be a part of this chat by simply typing in (hashtag)TSMRIchat on Twitter or adding it to tweets to follow the discussion. This chat can also be viewed by typing the hashtag on an Internet search engine.

TSMRI is a cross-collaborative initiative consisting of faculty, staff and students at Tarleton State University who are focused on social media in Texas. Their mission is to provide research and training focused on communication technology and social media in all ranges of education and business.
