STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton’s senior II nursing class will host a free event for the community called “Making Your Final Plans” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Barry B. Thompson Student Center ballrooms.

“The purpose of the event is to provide the community with a conversation to start planning for end-of-life and their final wishes,” said Meagan Burgess, a member of the class. “Talking about dying and planning for it is not easy. The nursing students will help people to practice having this difficult conversation with their loved ones.”

Presentations will include: palliative care by Dr. Donald Langley at 10 a.m.; estate planning by a representative of the Livens Law Firm at 11 a.m.; and funeral information from Lacy Funeral Home at 1 p.m.

Attendees will be provided a “starter kit” with tools and tips to help them begin the conversation about death and dying with family or friends.

Those attending can come and go as they wish, organizers said, and need not attend all the presentations.
