Three selected for Anthology Editor's Choice Awards

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Three Tarleton students were singled out for special recognition in the 19th volume of Anthology, the student literary publication which was released to the public on Tuesday during a reception in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center.
Grace Hallgarth of Stephenville, Molly Stewart of The Colony, and Lisa DeLuca of Frisco received the Editor’s Choice Awards presented to individuals who contributed outstanding works to the publication.
Jordan Looney of Stephenville’s Allied Body & Frame, Anthology’s long-time corporate sponsor, joined Anthology publication directors Dr. Marilyn Robitaille and Benedda Konvicka in making the presentation of the awards. Each winner was presented with a $100 prize.
Hallgarth, a junior fine arts major, was announced as this year’s Outstanding Artist for a variety of styles; Stewart, a junior majoring in sociology, was recognized as the Outstanding Contributor for the scope of work accepted in prose, poetry and visual arts; and DeLuca, a junior accounting major, received the Editor’s Choice Award for Outstanding Combination of Work for the pairing of creative non-fiction and the art that illustrates it.
The announcement of the Editor’s Choice Awards were made in conjunction with a poetry reading held to celebrate Creative Arts Day on campus. Jan Seale, 2012 Texas Poet Laureate, shared selections of her poetry with students, faculty and staff during a reading in the Fine Arts Center Theatre prior to the Anthology release reception.
More than 500 works were submitted for possible inclusion in the 19th volume, with a total of 196 written works, one musical score, and 358 art and digitial entries reviewed this year, according to Konvicka.
Among the contributors to the 2013 edition of Anthology are: Rebecca Ator, Alyssa Bedrick, Megan Pruitt Bise, Kevin Bostick, Elizabeth Chilton, Christopher Steven Coan, Jacqueline Cordova, Lauren Cozzi, Melissa Crosby, Brooke Cummings, Amanda DeBusk, Lisa DeLuca, Morgan Mariah Emerson, Sean Fletcher, Sherry Gaston, Emryse Geye, Anna Gilley, Justin Green, Grace Hallgarth, Amber Harvey, Justin Hawkins, Joshus David Hernandez, Abby Jones, Grace Kantz and Megan Klassen.
Additional contributors include: Camden Lawless, Devon Lozano, Susan Lyons, Rhonda Martin, Michael Francis Machart, Lawrence Cisco Matherne, Maranda McGonigle, Mackenzie McLellan, Brittany McLemore, Ashley Parker, Marcus Parks, Rachel Peoples, Christine J.
