Tarleton choirs combine for King of Instruments concert

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton’s vocal studies program and the Department of Fine Arts will present a choral concert, “The King of Instruments and the Human Instrument,” on Thursday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will serve as a celebration of music featuring the Waggener organ, as well as several a cappella works.

The university’s Chamber Choir, Select Women’s Ensemble and Men’s Choir, under the direction of Dr. Troy Robertson, will be accompanied by pianists Steve Chambers and Jeremy Bowen for the concert at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center auditorium.

Among the selections to be performed are pieces by Hildegard Van Buren, John Tavener, Clavio Morteverdi and Ysaye Barnwell, and range in style from medieval chant to modern pop. 

Admission is $5 or free with a Tarleton ID. Tickets go on sale one hour prior to the performance and all seating is general admission.
