STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Darrell Brown has been named executive director of student engagement in the Division of Student Life at Tarleton State University.

In this role he will be responsible for planning, coordinating, developing, and executing university policies, procedures and practices relating to the comprehensive scope of student engagement programs. These include various student leadership programs, Greek-lettered social fraternity/sorority organizations, civic engagement and service learning opportunities. Brown will begin his duties on March 4.

“I am thrilled about the opportunity to return to Tarleton to work with students, faculty and staff. I look forward to the chance to reconnect with colleagues in order to promote student engagement and success,” Brown said. “The unique chance to build programs within student life that prepare students for their careers and futures is very rewarding.”

Brown most recently served as senior vice president of business development at Town and Country Bank in Stephenville. Prior to his service at Town and Country Bank he served as the executive director of the Star Council on Substance Abuse. He also served in a number of roles within the Tarleton State University Police Department and as a resident director in Residential Living and Learning.

Brown has long been active in the Stephenville community. He has served on the Erath County United Way Board of Directors, the Independent Bankers Association of Texas Leadership Board of Directors, Tarleton Presidential Search Committee, and Stephenville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He is currently president of the Stephenville High School Athletic Booster Club.

“We are excited to welcome Darrell back to Tarleton and look forward to the significant contributions he’ll make towards student success,” said Ashley Tull, assistant vice president for student life studies. “Our goal is to grow our leadership, Greek and service programs as student success strategies. Darrell’s hiring allows us to make important strides in forging connections that are important to these programs.”

Brown attended Tarleton, where he obtained his master’s in teaching in government and public administration and bachelor’s in criminal justice, with a minor in psychology.
