STEPHENVILLE, Texas—The Department of Fine Arts and Theatre at Tarleton will present The Tolstoy Story Play, on Saturday, Feb. 9, serving as its first production in 2013 as part of the Young People’s Series.

Two performances will be provided for the community, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. inside the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Tickets are $3 and all seating is general admission.

Directed by Tarleton student and theatre major Josh Hensley, The Tolstoy Story Play, by V. Glasgow Koste, is inspired by Leo Tolstoy’s telling of Russian folktales a century ago. The play’s theme is that each person’s real life is in itself a complex story, made up of overlapping, interwoven stories, and it clearly illustrates the essence of the story itself as a human survival tool and as an art.

The script calls for a small, talented cast playing multiple roles. The Theatre at Tarleton has casted theatre majors Meg Steffens, Robert Ferguson, Austin Long, Taylor Matlock, Emily Trinque and Mary Meiron.
