STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Dr. Leslie Spotz, associate professor of piano at Tarleton, will perform a solo recital on Monday, Jan. 28, in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center theater. The recital is free and open to the public.

Spotz will be assisted by senior music education major Jeremy Bowen, for Robert Schumann’s piano concerto, first movement, and will provide the second piano serving as the “orchestra” for this extremely popular work.

The program represents some of the most popular works ever written for solo classical piano, including Mozart’s Piano Sonata in C major, K. 330; the ever favorite Beethoven Moonlight Sonata and Chopin’s Ballade No. 3 in A flat major.

Spotz has established an international performing career, spanning nearly 30 years and including solo performances in Tchaikovsky Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., London’s South Bank Center, several solo tours of Germany, along with recent solo performances in Italy and Taiwan, and her all-Chopin recital in New York City in 2010 for the Chopin Bicentennial.

She will perform the Schumann Concerto at the University of Texas at San Antonio with Tarleton alumna, Matthew Lovelace, as conductor of the UTSA Orchestra in March and was invited to return to perform in Milan, Italy, in June 2013.
