STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton’s Department of Nursing will host an open house Dec. 11-13, for health care professionals to receive tours and see the various types of training available in its state-of-the-art simulation center.

Faculty and staff will be available each day in the university’s Nursing Building from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide information regarding continuing education opportunities by utilizing simulation as a platform for learning and assessment to improve patient care.

Simulation coordinator Cheryl Hunter said the open house is for all health care professionals, including those at area medical clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies and EMS first-responders. The public is also invited to tour the simulator facilities.

The nursing program’s high-fidelity simulators may be modified for specific training and to meet the needs of continuing education requirements and competency training, including instruction in advanced cardiovascular life support, Hunter said.
