STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Virginia Campo, a community rights, especially women’s rights, activist in Central America, will discuss her work on the Tarleton campus Thursday, Nov. 15.

Campo’s presentation, a part of the Speaker Symposium Lecture Series, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Room 116 of the O.A. Grant Building. The talk is free and open to the public.

Originally from Colombia, Campo holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations and Latin American studies from Florida State University. She began her professional experience in 2008 at the United Nations; in 2011, she moved on to Kalu Yala, a sustainable development company. She lived in the rural areas of Panama and developed community projects. She later founded Hecha y Derecha, a nongovernmental organization that focuses in bridging the economic gap for women from rural to urban areas in Panama.

Her talk will focus on the achievements and work of Hecha y Derecha.
