STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Due to the impacts of Hurricane Sandy on travel, Michael Barker, co-president and co-founder of Sony Pictures Classics, has had to cancel his planned speaking engagement.

Barker, who originally planned to visit the Tarleton campus and speak during a brown bag guest lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 31, has informed organizers of the event that he is unable to travel from New York City due to the closure of several area airports in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Dr. Charles Howard informed the campus community Wednesday afternoon of the cancellation, saying that the Department of Communication Studies hopes to reschedule Barker's visit.
