STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Texan TV News will air its 300th broadcast today.

Texan TV News has grown since its beginning in 2008. With the largest staff ever, this year’s broadcast team has been able to produce live news five days a week.

Although the mission of Texan TV News has not changed, many aspects of the broadcast have.

“This semester students added two new programs in the mix—a sports talk stream called ‘Topic of Discussion’ and a Spanish-language news show,” said Dan Malone, faculty adviser of Texan TV News.

The news service and its staff have earned many honors for excellence over the past few years, such as the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas Young Journalist Award, awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and front page stories in area publications.

“It started out as a pre-recorded, once a week show involving a handful of students,” Malone said. “Today, it’s live, five days a week, and more than 30 students are working on it.”

Texan TV News is on the Web at www.texannews.net, and viewers can watch the broadcast live Monday through Friday at 12:30 on www.ustream.tv/user/texannewsservice.
