STEPHENVILLE, Texas—The fifth annual Spirits of Erath County Cemetery Walk, co-sponsored by Friends of the Dick Smith Library and Friends of the Stephenville Public Library, will feature vignettes from the past and help to tell the stories of those people for whom several local streets are named.

Scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 4, the annual event featuring seven guided tour stops will include stories about the lives of several prominent individuals including: John Tarleton, W.P. and Sallie Orr, Henry Lee Kight and Julian Kight, J.J. and Lydia Groesbeck, John M. Stephen, George B. Erath, H.J. “Harry” McIlhaney, and Dick Long and Ora Long Jennings. Stephenville’s brass band will also be on hand to provide entertainment during the Cemetery Walk.

The Cemetery Walk will begin at 2 p.m. at West End Cemetery. Admission is $5 with proceeds benefitting the two sponsoring organizations. Water will be provided during the tour, and attendees are invited to bring a lawn chair if they choose to sit at the tour stops.
