Welcome Center grand opening celebration planned

Welcome Center Grand Opening

Tarleton State University

Monday, October 22, 2012

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton will host a grand opening celebration for its new “front door” with students, faculty, staff and the community invited to tour the recently renovated Welcome Center, beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23.

The new Welcome Center, located on the corner of Washington and McIlhaney streets, was born after renovations to the former nursing building earlier this year. The repurposed facility now serves as the first stop for prospective students and their parents and the starting point for Tarleton campus tours.

Tuesday’s grand opening incudes a 3:30 ribbon cutting ceremony and remarks by university administrators and Laurie Gaiser, director of the Welcome Center and Office of School Relations. Parking is available in the visitors’ lot just west of the Welcome Center, and in designated spaces behind the center.

The Welcome Center, which hosts tours of the university year-round, moved to its new location from the Tarleton Center. The facility boasts a presentation room able to accommodate large groups, as well as historical exhibits, office spaces for Office of School Relations staff, and a computer lab for prospective students to complete their admissions, housing and scholarship applications.
