Steer Spectacular draws 700 exhibitors

STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS— More than 700 exhibitors representing 10 states took part in the Steer Spectacular, held April 21-22 at the Tarleton State University Equine Center. The TSU Steer Spectacular is one of the largest jackpot steer shows in Texas.

Judges for this year’s event included Chris Effling, Highmore, S.D.; Matt Copeland, Nara Visa, N.M.; Harlan Yocham, Sapulpa, Okla.; and Kyle Conley, Sulphur, Okla. The TSU Livestock and Meats Judging teams and students from the Livestock Shows and Contests course hosted the show. Jared Jackson, Dr. Jason Sawyer, Jeff Jackson and Jacob Lange served as superintendents.

Jayton Cogburn walked away with top honors earning the Supreme Exhibitor award for the 2012 show. He received a hanging show box donated by Hamm’s Show Supply in Tolar, and a turbo fan from Sullivan Show Supply in Hillsboro.
