STEPHENVILLE, Texas—A recent alumna, Paige Poth, and Tarleton undergrad Sarah Beaty each presented research papers at the Southern States Communication Association conference and the Theodore Clevenger Jr. Undergraduate Honors Conference at the Southern States Communication Association Conference in New Orleans in early April.

Poth’s paper, titled “An Analysis of Animal Conservation Societies’ Utilization of Facebook as a Tool to Communicate with Stakeholders,” was accepted as part of the faculty paper session.

Beaty’s paper, titled “Domestic and International Hotel Use of Twitter to Connect with Businesses and Tourists Across the Globe,” was accepted as part of the Studies in Emerging Media session sponsored by the Theodore Clevenger Jr. Undergraduate Honors Conference.

As part of the university’s quality enhancement program (Applied Learning Experiences), the students worked together in Dr. Jennifer T. Edwards’ upper-level communication courses to develop scholarly research papers.

The Department of Communication Studies offers degrees in speech communication, journalism and broadcasting, public relations and event management.
