STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Three students enrolled in Tarleton’s band program were recently selected for the Intercollegiate Honor Band and will perform at the 2013 College Band Directors National Association conference, to be held in Greensboro, N.C.

Caitlin Rose, flute; Tanner Jordan, clarinet; and Matthew Daigle, trumpet; were selected from a panel of more than 300 students from across the country. All three students are instrumental music majors of Dr. Anthony Pursell, director of bands at Tarleton.

The general spirit and mission of the Intercollegiate Honor Band is to provide students the opportunity to perform high quality literature at the CBDNA national conference under a renowned conductor, explained Pursell. This year’s conductor is professor Craig Kirchhoff from the University of Minnesota.

“We are very proud of the accomplishments of these and all of our students involved in the instrumental program at Tarleton,” said Pursell. “The experiences these three students will obtain from Dr. Kirchhoff and their peers from around the country will be tremendous and our program here at Tarleton will benefit greatly.”

The CBDNA national conference, slated for March 20-23, will include three days of rehearsals on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Greensboro with the honor band concert scheduled for the final day of the conference. A live stream will be available at: www.banddirector.com.

Members of the College Band Directors National Association are devoted to the teaching, performance, study and cultivation of music, with particular focus on the wind band medium. CBDNA is an inclusive organization whose members are engaged in continuous dialogue encompassing myriad philosophies and professional practices.
