STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton State University received approval April 25 from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to establish the Midlothian Higher Education Center.
The center will serve as a multi-institutional teaching center in a partnership consisting of Tarleton, Navarro College, Texas A&M University-Commerce and the University of North Texas–Dallas. The four institutions have collaborated to provide upper-level and graduate courses on Navarro College’s Midlothian campus.
“The programs are designed to build upon the associate-level courses at Navarro College,” said Dr. David Deviney, director of Midlothian Outreach Programs. “The center extends the opportunity for higher education to those in Ellis County who might not otherwise have access.”
Population and enrollment growth led to Navarro College and Midlothian’s Corporation for Economic Development to push for the center’s establishment to ensure college graduates will be available to meet the needs of the present and future area workforce.
Currently, Tarleton offers five undergraduate completion programs and two graduate programs in Midlothian.
