Wind ensemble concert to feature three student conductors

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—The Tarleton State University Wind Ensemble will perform in concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 29, and take the stage with three student conductors as well as the music department’s newest assistant professor.

Under the direction of Dr. Anthony Pursell, director of bands at Tarleton, the Wind Ensemble will perform selections including Charles Ives’ Variations on America, Ron Nelson’s Mayflower Overture, and Jack Stamp’s Chorale and Toccata.

Selected to lead the Wind Ensemble will be three student conductors—Mikel Shane Prather, Brett Batchelor and Clinton Cox. The concert will also feature Dr. Brian Walker, Tarleton’s new assistant professor of music who specializes in trumpet instruction.

The concert will be presented at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center’s auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and free for students, faculty and staff with a valid Tarleton ID. All seats are general admission and tickets will be available one hour prior to the performance.
