Tarleton to honor fallen Texans at Silver Taps ceremony

STEPHENVILLE, Texas-The Silver Taps Ceremony, an annual observance to honor members of the Tarleton family who have passed away during the past year, will be held Thursday, April 14, at 8 p.m. in Heritage Oaks Park near the intersection of Tarleton and McIlhaney streets. Silver Taps includes a roll call and candle lighting ceremony to honor all alumni, students, staff, faculty and friends of the university who have passed away since March 15, 2010.
The Office of External Relations, the Tarleton Alumni Association and Reserve Officer Training Corps, sponsors of the event, invite the public to observe the long-standing tradition that begins with a reception at 7:15 p.m. The Silver Taps Ceremony will culminate with a processional, placing of flowers at the base of the Military Memorial, the playing of "Taps" and a 21-gun salute.
