Tarleton presents 13th annual star party

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oct. 8, 2009

STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS—The public is invited to Lake Mineral Wells State Park for a chance to view the beautiful Texas sky up close as Tarleton State University presents its 13th annual North Texas Skywatch Star Party on Oct. 17.

“The party is open to the public, and it’s a very family-oriented event,” said Dr. Michael Hibbs, associate professor of engineering and physics. “Generally two different types of groups attend – amateur astronomers who bring and set up telescopes and families with kids who want to have fun and learn a little bit.”

Attendees are welcome to bring their own telescopes, but there will be several on-hand at the site.

The party is free to attend with the price of the park admission fee. The event begins at 7 p.m., and guests may choose to camp at the park.

For directions or more information on the event and camping reservations, contact the state park at (940) 328-1171.
