Thurber, Texas once had an Opera House that seated over 600 people that was converted into a movie theater in the 1920's and 1930's. The Night Out at the Opera House program features silent and black & white films from this time period. The featured films are shown in the museum's recreated opera house.

The W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas, a museum & research facility of Tarleton State University, is located in Thurber, Texas at Exit 367 on Interstate 20, between Fort Worth and Abilene.
