Title: Transnational Religion in American Politics
Does the religious identity of immigrant groups in the United States have any influence on political engagement and advocacy? How do religious institutions both here and in countries of origin shape ethnoreligious identities in terms of American politics, especially on views and engagement with foriegn policy issues? This presentation offers a brief introduction to the study of transnational religion among immigrant groups in the United States, followed by a focus on the relationship among specific groups between ethnoreligious identity and political advocacy.
