Campus Renovations and Construction

Tarleton Renovations

Campus Project Summary

Here’s a brief rundown on what’s happening as of April 2017:

  • The Intramural fields received construction drawings for the relocation of remaining track and field events as well as the addition of sidewalks and lighting. Plans are beind developed to address storm water drainage, and upon their completion the project will be bid out.
  • Faculty and Staff lots P10, P11, P12 and P37 are temporarily closed. Individuals assigned to this lot can park in lots P15 or P23.
  • The addition of an accessible ramp to the sidewalk leading to  South side of the Administration Annex II and North West portion of the Administration Building has resulted in a construction fence that restricts pedestrian traffic through the center. An alternative route will direct traffic to the front of Annex II (HelpDesk entrance) or the Administration entrance along Washington.
  • Construction on P13 has been concluded, but the southern portion of Doc Blanchard will remain temporarily closed.
  • The housing Abatement & Demolition for three lots that will be converted to parking - P34S (All Zone), is underway. Browder Storage has been demolished and construction is in progress.
  • A groundbreaking ceremony for the Engineering Building occurred on March 31. Located between Lillian Avenue and St. Peter Street, north of Washington Street, the engineering building will become the new “front door” of Tarleton, serving as a major gateway to the university and a signature building for the campus.
  • Moody Hall is currently undergoing renovations to become the new offices for ITS. Construction is slated to be complete by December 2017.
  • The Tarleton Police have officially relocated to their new station at the corner of Frey and Harbin. View their new location on our interactive map.
  • Construction continues on a major infrastructure improvement at the center of campus. The project will expand pedestrian walkways along several campus core streets. Utility improvements will eliminate flooding issues and enhance lighting. There will be some alternative pedestrian routes and temporary traffic changes as we work to complete this project. View the current routes. Scheduled for completion in December 2017. View information about the Utility and Infrastructure project.
    • Landscaping and lighting along Vanderbilt between the Dining Hall and east of Lillian are nearly complete, phase 2 of the Pedestrian Mall is expected to be opened in July.
    • Lillian will be closed from Washington to Jones as progress continues throughout the campus.
    • The renaming of Lillian to Rudder Way and the unveiling of the Rudder statue is scheduled with the Board of Regents for October 19th, 2017. Save the date for this momentous occasion.
  • Groundbreaking for renovations to Memorial Stadium is expected to occur in the fall. The $24 million project will expand seating to 9,400 and convert the west-side stands for home fans. Anticipated completion for this project is August 2018. View more information about plans for the future stadium project.
